Gap Hill Verdelho

We find that the Stroud “Terroir” is just right for producing quality Verdelho. We continue to pay careful attention to soil, microclimate and vineyard management so that our artful winemaker receives quality hand-picked grapes late in January each year.

Our winemaker is Adrian Sheridan from Calais Estate who has a great reputation in the Hunter for making quality white wines.  The contract winemakers we work with are those that share our drive for quality and distinctiveness. Our winemaker from 2006 to 2013 was David Fatches, and from 2014 to 2016 was Rhys Eather.  All of our winemakers have utilised our preferred commitment to a slow and cool fermentation period to ensure that Gap Hill Verdelho retains maximum fruit flavour when fermented to dryness.

Our Hunter Region is known for its distinctive Verdelhos. Our northern Stroud Verdelho tends towards crispness compared to the fuller style of the more southerly Pokolbin Verdelhos.
